OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2010. Meeting with the delegation of the Ministry of Transport of China comprising managers of various water transport and shipping departments and port administrations of the People's Republic of China was held in the Ministry of Economic Development of Karelia.

According to Jui Tsingming, head of the delegation and chief of the Navigation Management Administration of the province of Jiangxi, specialists from China are paying a reconnaissance visit to Russia. The main task of this business trip is to exchange experience with Russian colleagues concerning water transportation and acquaintance to Russia's shipping system.

In turn, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Karelia Lev Shustov has told the Chinese colleagues about work of the transport infrastructure of the North-West of Russia and the Republic of Karelia, priority strategic directions of development of transportation services, and answered questions.

Specialists from the People's Republic of China have already travelled to several water bodies of the Central Federal District, in Karelia they intend to make a familiarization trip to the White Sea-Baltic Canal, and then a tour to the Volga-Baltic Route.
