OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2010. Yandex users can now travel to the seaside in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai in the blink of an eye. Yandex.Maps offers panoramic images of resort towns on the coast of the Black Sea from Anapa to Sochi including small villages and the road along the shoreline.
The new panoramic views on Yandex.Maps help users choose their Black Sea holiday destination. Some might become attracted to the sandy beaches of Anapa, while others could prefer the robust vegetation of Dagomys. Yandex has made images of pedestrian streets, promenades, waterfronts and local attractions for every seaside town. So, prospective tourists can now take a virtual view of the Mikhail Kutuzov cruiser ship in Novorossiysk or take a pause at the white arch in Gelendzhik.
Those planning to travel in their car can now see on ‘Panoramic views’ if the roads in Krasnodar Krai are good enough to drive or what a specific turn looks like. In addition, Yandex.Maps offers detailed maps of local resorts accessible both online and through a downloadable mobile application that can help holiday makers find their way.
Panoramic images were created by City Scanner. The imagery was collected in May, right before the start of the tourist season. In total, the images cover 1,140 km of streets in about 30 locations counting off the smallest villages where the camera crew had only one street to photograph – the one they were driving through.
The first panoramic views – images of Moscow – first appeared on Yandex.Maps in September 2009. Currently, Yandex users can see the views of Saint Petersburg, Kiev, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and Chelyabinsk.
