RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2010. Over the week of July 5 – July 9, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 3.25% to reach 1,359.45 points (1,316.65 points as of July 2, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 13.22 points) followed by ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 9.38 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (plus 7.8 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 2.89% to reach 9,050.25 points (8,796.43 points as of July 2, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 1.20% closing at 1,602.36 points (1,583.39 points as of July 2, 2010). Last week almost all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the financial sector, with the RTS Finances Index adding 5.41%. A significant increase was also shown by the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index going up by 2.45%. A decline was only demonstrated by the industrial sector. The RTS Industrial Index lost 0.26%.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 2.09%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 1.35% against the ruble to reach 30.95 rubles per US dollar (31.37 rubles as of July 2, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of July 5 – July 9, 2010 equaled USD10.3 billion (320.8 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,903.0 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD985.14 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD423.22 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD159.82 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 50.93%, 21.88% and 8.26% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of ОАО "PROTEK" (PRTK) that went up by 12.50% to USD3.6 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "WGC-3" (OGKC) – by 12.38% to USD0.059 and ordinary shares of JSC "Aeroflot" (AFLT) – by 10.61% to reach USD1.98.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC "Company "M.video" (MVID) that fell 2.64% to reach USD5.9 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-4" (OGKD) that lost 2.53% to reach USD0.077 and ordinary shares of OAO Raspadskaya (RASP) that shed 1.00% to reach USD3.98.
