Government of Ukraine Will Protect Low-Income Families
OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2010. The partial increase in tariffs for gas would necessarily be accompanied by targeted compensation from the budget for the poorest segments of the population. The Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Tigipko said that answering the reporters’ questions in the Cabinet of Ministers.
SerhiyTigipko said that the Government sees its task to compensate the lifting of tariffs for the poor through government subsidies.
"We need to find options that will help to protect the poorest people. Today, rich and poor pay the same price for gas, but it is wrong - SerhiyTigipko said. Vice Prime Minister also noted that the Cabinet would simplify the obtaining subsidies procedure for those who need State support.
SerhiyTigipko assured that in the process of reducing the budget expenditures, which is also provided by the terms of cooperation with the IMF, the financing of social articles was not decreased. "I can say that no social article has not been and will not be reduced. Anything that was reduced was related to those budget spending, which does not affect wages, pensions and subsidies"- the official stressed.
