OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2010. By now in Moldova were harvested 70% of planted areas of winter rape, 40% of peas, 35% of winter barley and more than 4% of wheat. Valeriu Cosarciuc, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, announced this at the meeting on the issues of harvesting and stocking of cereals.

The head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted that due to recent heavy rains the harvesting is very hard, and 5 ha of agricultural lands were flooded. Valeriu Cosarciuc emphasized that cereal growers and harvesters are ready and as soon as the weather normalizes the harvesting will start.

According to him, it is necessary to put the cereals for storage for several months in order to sell them after for higher prices. He demanded from administration of elevators and plants on cereals processing to be more flexible in their work.
