Boryspil International Airport Develops Electronic Verification System
OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2010. The implementation of electronic verification system of citizens through RFID-cards at Boryspil International airport will triple the flow of passengers through the state border. First Deputy Head of the State Border Service (SBGS) Administration Pavlo Shysholin said this at a briefing at the Government House.
Pavlo Shysholin stressed that these conclusions the SBGS reached after the experiment conducted at the International airport "Boryspil". 10 thousand free RFID-cards were given to citizens of Ukraine in implementing the passport control of international lines. According to him, time for passport control of one passenger reduced in 3 times. "The experiment has a positive conclusion. Time for passport control of one passenger reduced in 3 times Thus, implementing this technology at the airport "Boryspil" will allow to increase threefold passenger flows through the state border", he said and added that this system is very timely during the finals of Euro 2012. Furthermore, as Pavlo Shysholin said, this technology allows the verification of passports with biometric data.
The First Deputy Head of the SBGS Administration said that it is currently considering an option of a wider implementation of electronic verification system through RFID-card at the airport, according to which, passengers for their own money can buy such magnetic cards. They will be valid as long as the duration of a foreign passport. "This will help everybody to get such a card and freely in 15-20 seconds to cross the state border at Boryspil airport not only at exit, but at entry", he said.
According to him, the SBGS believes that "this experiment should be extended to all visa free passengers, many representatives of embassies, consular offices, who permanently stay in Ukraine and frequently cross the border". In addition, Pavlol Shysholin said that the SBGS plans to introduce this system in the terminal "F" at the airport "Boryspil", which will be soon ready for operation. "50 employees will probably work according to the old technology, 50 others - the new one", said the First Deputy, stressing that this positive international practice is developed on the basis of the interests of passengers, as it aims at saving time in implementing the passport control of international lines.
