RTS Released Stock Market Monthly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. July 09, 2010. In June 2010 the RTS Index went down by 3.27% to 1,339.35 points as of June 30, 2010 against 1,384.59 points as of May 31, 2010. Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was coming from the declining prices for ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSNS) (down 18.81 points), followed by ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 15.27 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 13.32 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 1.87% to reach 8,979.23 points (9,150.58 points as of May 31, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 Index fell 1.14% to reach 1,621.37 points (1,640.09 points as of May 31, 2010). Almost all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a negative trend. The largest decrease was demonstrated by the metals & mining sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index losing 9.87%. A significant decline was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index shedding 6.99%. The largest growth was experienced by the telecom sector: the RTS Telecom Index gained 4.45%.

In June the US dollar appreciated by 2.29% against the Russian ruble to reach 31.2 rubles per US dollar (30.5 rubles as of May 31, 2010).

In June 2010 the securities trading volume on RTS equaled USD47.76 billion (1,488.36 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD9,591.85 million.

The top sellers of the month on the RTS Stock Market were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD3,865.6 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD2,631.2 million and ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) with a turnover of USD1,032.9 million. The share of the above securities in the turnover made up 39.64%, 26.98% and 10.59% respectively.

The top gainers of the month were ordinary shares of JSC SITRONICS (SITR) that experienced a growth of 32.35% to reach USD0.0225, ordinary shares of IDGC of North-West (MRKZ) that went up by 32.35% to reach USD0.009 and ordinary shares of Ufaneftekhim (UFNC) that gained 28.79% to end up at USD4.25 per share.

The top losers of the month were ordinary shares of NLMK (NLMKS) that lost 24.96% to reach USD2.6, ordinary shares of JSC "IDGC Holding" (MRKH) that went down by 21.05% to reach USD0.105 and preferred shares of JSC "Slavneft-Megionneftegaz" (MFGSP) that decreased by 18.80% to USD10.15.
