RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. July 09, 2010. Over the week of June 28 – July 2, 2010, the RTS Index went down by 5.12% to reach 1,316.65 points (1,387.66 points as of June 25, 2010). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (down 14.89 points) followed by ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (down 13.16 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 7.30 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 4.88% to reach 8,796.43 points (9,247.47 points as of June 25, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 4.60% closing at 1,583.39 points (1,659.81 points as of June 25, 2010). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest decline was reported by the metals & mining sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index shedding 6.80%. A significant decrease was also shown by the financial sector, with the RTS Financials Index going down by 6.05%. Growth was only seen in the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index adding 0.26%.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, lost 6.39%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 1.15% against the ruble to reach 31.37 rubles per US dollar (31.01 rubles as of June 25, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of June 28 – July 2, 2010 equaled USD11.5 billion (357.7 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,062.9 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD985.47 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD512.18 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD177.04 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 47.18%, 24.52% and 8.48% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of OJSC "Company "M.video" (MVID) that went up by 11.11% to USD6.06 followed by ordinary shares of "FGC UES ", JSC (FEES) – by 3.17% to USD0.01073 and ordinary shares of OJSC "Kuzbasskaya Toplivnaya Company" (KBTK) – by 3.04% to reach USD6.1.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-2" (OGKB) that fell 13.76% to reach USD0.047 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-1" (OGKA) that lost 13.16% to reach USD0.033 and ordinary shares of Mechel ОАО (MTLR) that shed 11.70% to reach USD19.25.
