OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2010. Lithuania is not going to purchase electric power from future Russian Baltic NPP – this information is provided by Kestutis Yanushkis, the Press Secretary of Lithuanian Energy Ministry.
"The priority objectives of Lithuanian Power Industry concern the construction of Visaginsk NPP and connection of networks with Poland (LitPolink) and Sweden (NordBalt). This is a part of a plan of Baltic power market synchronization (Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan) which guarantees the integration of Baltic states into the electric power system of European Community”, Yanushkis declared.
The common market of the three Baltic States is to be established in 2013, and in 2015 it shall be connected to the markets of Scandinavian countries and countries of Continental Europe, states the portal.
“The connection of networks to Kaliningrad region is not mentioned either in the ten-year development plan of 2010–2020 made by ENTSO-E, the organization of European operators of power transmission”, K.Yanushkis added.
The construction of Baltic NPP was started in Kaliningrad region at the end of February, 2010.
