Ukraine-IMF Cooperation to Alleviate Financial Situation
OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2010. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic said that the negotiations between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund ended, hence the parties agreed on the cooperation programme for the next two-and-a half years. Its implementation will "alleviate a little the financial situation".
Mykola Azarov said that today Ukraine managed to stabilise the socio-economic situation. Economy, according to him, began to recover.
The Head of the Government stressed that one of the main tasks of the Government after the economic downturn and a 15 per cent budget deficit in 2009, consists in stabilising public finances. "Now our main task is to stabilise public finances. On Saturday we completed talks with the IMF and agreed to continue cooperation for 2.5 years. This will alleviate the financial situation a little bit. In general, we are optimistic enough about the next year", he said, adding that the Government is continuing the work on systemic reforms’ preparation in all sectors of the economy and social relations. These reforms are aimed at creating favourable investment climate in Ukraine.
