OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2010. As part of the Government Program for social transport provision to Far East residents in the period of April 1 - June 1, 2010, Aeroflot has carried near 13,000 passengers; over 47,000 have bought tickets, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

The agreement involves Aeroflot providing special-fare economy-class seats to subsidized passengers – Russian citizens aged through 23 and over 60 on each flight to the following destinations:

Vladivostok - Moscow – Vladivostok,
Magadan – Moscow – Magadan,
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky – Moscow – Petropavlovsk-  Kamchatsky,
Khabarovsk – Moscow - Khabarovsk,
Yuzhno Sakhalinsk – Moscow – Yuzhno Sakhalinsk.

Aeroflot is the largest operator of the Russian long-haul Ilyushin-96 aircraft which are extensively used by the Far East transportation program. In accordance with an Executive Order of the Russian Government, Aeroflot allocates more social seats on its flights performed by Ilyushin-96s. This enables meeting the demand from Far East passengers. Considering the booking outlooks and demand forecasts, Aeroflot is planning to carry over 90 thousand passengers from April 01 through October 31 2010. In the last year, the carrier flew over 26 500 passengers under the social transport program for the Far East.

Aeroflot is committed to its social policies aimed at supporting underprivilegedgroups. The programs implemented include provision of special-fare tickets to the war vets, victims of the siege of Leningrad, the disabled, as well as sick people needing surgeries performed outside Russia.
