Belarusian Industrial Output Increased 7.7% in January-May

Engineering and metalworking companies’ output increased 5% on the year in the period to 11.205 trillion rubles. The output of fuel companies shrank 28.6% on the year in January-May to 10.046 trillion rubles.
Chemical and petrochemical companies’ production increased 23.1% to 6.509 trillion rubles, and ferrous metallurgy companies’ output increased 7.3% to 2.234 trillion rubles. Electrical power companies’ output increased 12.5% on the year to 4.561 trillion rubles.
Construction materials companies’ output increased 8.2% on the year to 2.202 trillion rubles, and woodworking and pulp-and-paper companies’ production amounted to 1.607 trillion rubles, up 11.5% on the year in January-May.
Return on sales amounted to 10.2% in January-April 2010, up from 8.5% in January-April 2009.
There were 371 loss-making manufacturers in the period, 18.4% of the total number, with net losses estimated at 377.529 billion rubles, down 22.1%.
