Albania Proposes Cooperation to Azerbaijan
OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2010.Albanian parliament’s speaker Josefina Topalli is paying currently her first visit to Baku. Yesterday she was received by Milli Mjalis speaker Ogtay Asadov, prime minister Artur Rasizadeh and President Ilham Aliyev.
When meeting with the Azerbaijani leader Ms. Topalli claimed of her country’s interest to broaden political links with Azerbaijan.
“Along with that our countries need to foster economic partnership. We have potential to develop relationships in energy, tourism, culture and other industries,” she added.
Ms. Topalli also talked of significance of promotion to inter-parliamentary ties and her Azerbaijani counterpart of importance of development of ties between the two countries’ heads to attach a new quality of links between the countries.
Currently relationships between both states are in fact lacking. The two countries have quite different approach towards recognition of independence of Kosovo. Albania welcomes recognition of the second Albanian state, while Azerbaijan cannot do the same as neighboring Armenia strives to create the second Armenian state on its territory.
