OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2010. Chairman of the Board of Directors of OAO ARMADA (MICEX, RTS: ARMD) Alexei Kuzovkin took part in the meeting of the Commission for Modernization and Technological Development of Russia’s Economy presided over by President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

In his opening speech, Dmitry Medvedev said: "There is no need to prove to anyone today that a country’s place in the modern world depends also on how developed its information technologies are. This is a priority area for Russia."1

One of the IT projects that has been already approved by the Commission2 with a budget of roughly RUB 69.53bn (USD 2.2bn) in the next few years, includes some RUB 38.55bn (USD 1.2bn) to be allotted from the federal budget. The project is from the Strategic Computer Technologies and Software section, and involves the automation of information flows for the delivery of social services (including the introduction of the social card).

ARMADA commands considerable market expertise in translating public social services into electronic format. One of the ARMADA’s key projects has been recently promoted by the Russian Government: the Unified Interdepartmental Statistical Information System (UniSIS) built by the company for the Federal State Statistics Service in 2008—2010 years partially on an Open Source Software is becoming an official source of statistical information in Russia since Jan 1, 20113. All official statistical information will be brought to the Internet trough a web portal www.fedstat.ru. ARMADA has been working with more than 50 federal agencies during the system’s development.
