OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2010. At the Korean Motor Show in Busan, SsangYong presented a pre-production version of the city crossover C200 as well as a model with a Pure EV electric engine.

The International Motor Show in Busan is the first international motor show that SsangYong took part in since presenting its crisis exit plan. The crossovers, first shown in Busan, not only demonstrate the image of the production model, which appeared on sale this year, but also show the company's design and technology development for the next few years.

The C200 product project is strategic for Ssangyong. The crossover is built on a completely new basis, the first CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) in SsangYong history. The letter "C" unites such ideas as Classy, Comfortable, and Clean, which are key descriptions of the company's long term development.

The car is equipped with a new high-tech diesel engine with a direct injection Common Rail which corresponds to Euro-5 standards and demonstrates the best noise indicators for its class. The new car was awarded 5 stars for passenger and driver safety according to EuroNCAP tests. The compact crossover is designed for a town family and has a spacious and comfortable interior, while the spacious boot makes it possible to travel out of town. In addition, the interior finish and car's equipment make it possible to compare it with a business class sedan.

The company's intention to develop technology in order to decrease the environmental effect of the car can be seen in the Pure EV electric engine model. It is equipped with lithium ion batteries which enable the car to run for 180 km without recharging at a maximum speed up to 150 km/h.

The designer С200, with its exclusive illustrations, shows the company's desire to create bright and attractive cars. The new crossover will be assembled in Russia, at the SOLLERS-Far East plant. Production starts in the IVth quarter of 2010. At the moment the conveyor belt is being built and made ready for assembling the C200. In Korea the model is called Korando C. At the moment the official name of the car model in Russia is being developed.
