Yanukovych Sure that Situation on Kharkiv Ring Road Is Too Politicized
OREANDA-NEWS. June 25, 2010. President Viktor Yanukovych is sure that Kharkiv local authorities should have solved the problem of construction of ring road through the city’s Gorky Park by initiating a constructive dialogue with the community of the city, he said today in an interview while visiting Khortytsia National Preserve.
"It is city community, which is planning what and how is done in a city. From my point of view this question is too politicized," said Viktor Yanukovych.
President Yanukovych also expressed opinion that such “political phenomena are remnant after the five-year period when different questions were often substituted with political actions.”
At the same time President Yanukovcyh reminded that the issue of Kharkiv ring road is not a new one, as the execution of this project’s documentation lasted more than two years and appropriate expert judgments were provided. "What has the government done wrong? I think the government acted in haste. It should have explained to the community what is it all about and why it is done. And then do it without politicization with which it was done. It was an unnecessary competition, because in such cases the unnecessary emotions never benefit the cause," said Viktor Yanukovych.
President Yanukovych said that within the framework of preparations to EURO 2012 Kharkiv certainly needs that road. However, the city also must preserve its green space. "The balance should have been found here, including – in the thoughts and attitudes of citizens," he said.
