Yanukovych: We Do Fulfill Our Undertaken Social Commitments
OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2010. At the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych spoke about the situation in country’s social sector.
"We are fulfilling our undertaken social commitments to make payments under the Law on social standards, adopted last year, and now the Government recalculates all the payments in full," he said.
However, according to the Head of State, the government should not stop at that. After all, there are still significant debts in salaries payment. "It is good that in April we have started the payments, but this trend should grow, and we must keep this issue under control," stressed Viktor Yanukovych.
The President also drew attention of the Government to the gap in the Pension Fund. "The amount of its arrears increases, which at present is about 4.5 billion UAH. This means the Commission on repayment of arrears in salaries doesn’t work effectively enough both at central and local levels," said the Head of State.
President Yanukovych instructed Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to "initiate monthly reports, keep these issues under personal supervision and in case of necessity involve law enforcement bodies in this work." As, according to the President, there are violations of law in the abovementioned issues.
Viktor Yanukovych also noted that "reforming of healthcare and education gains special significance in the social sector. The program of economic reforms gives clear answers to what to do and how to act. It also identifies all mechanisms and schedules of reforms. These are the most important issues," said Viktor Yanukovych, referring to the quality of healthcare in Ukraine and ways of its improvement.
The President instructed the Government to develop and adopt appropriate plans of measures, which include, in particular, standard-setting work and adequate funding, by the end of this month.
