Samotlorneftegaz Raised Flow Rates of Three Wells by 15%
OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2010. OJSC Samotlorneftegaz completed field tests of the Canadian mobile compressor unit BGC—605. The field tests were conducted for three months at three production wells in the Samotlor field equipped with electrical submersible pumps. The flow rate increment surprised the oilmen and amounted to at least 15%. The test results are being verified and analyzed, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.
The compressor unit uses a unique technology of associated petroleum gas extraction from the annular space, which increases oil recovery and decreases oil production costs. This technology mitigates the negative impact of gas on pump operation, reduces the equipment load, requires no additional pipes, drill rods, and electrical cables as the pumps do not have to be submerged deeper into the well, and increases the mean pump operation time between failures.
Even this short testing period revealed through that wells react differently to operation of the compressor unit. The company has to solve the equipment maintenance problem.
