Kaluga Turbine Works Fulfill Order for Metallurgic Company
OREANDA-NEWS. June 23, 2010. Kaluga Turbine Works (KTZ), a branch of Power Machines, manufactured a set of three 50 MW steam turbines for Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK).
KTZ signed a contract for equipment procurement with Soyuz Power Development Corporation, the main contractor for NLMK’s power facility construction, in July, 2008. The contract envisages manufacture and supply by KTZ of a set comprising three PT-40/50-8,8/1,3 type steam turbines.
KTZ has previously produced turbine equipment for NLMK. The К-25 and Т-25 type turbines, which are KTZ’s standard products, were shipped and commissioned in 2006 and 2008 respectively. The PT-40/50 type steam turbines of higher capacity are the plant’s newly launched machines.
The new equipment produced by KTZ will be installed at NLMK CHP, which is currently under construction. Since the plant will use blast-furnace gas as the primary propellant, KTZ’s turbines will thus help to recycle it. The power plant will therefore enable to solve two problems – recycling of gas, which emission into the atmosphere must be prevented, and improving NLMK’s power supply.
