Belarusian Metal Plants Steel Output Reduced 2.7%
OREANDA-NEWS. June 23, 2010. Steel output of Zhlobin-based Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ) amounted to 838,500 tonnes in January-April 2010, down 2.7% on the year, an official with the plant told.
Rolled stock output decreased 2.5% to 696,100 tonnes, and pipe output rose 130% to 30,500 tonnes.
Metal cord output went down 1.5% to 30,500 tonnes. Steel cord output rose 29.2% to 60,300 tonnes.
Bead wire output amounted to 9,400 tonnes, down 25.5% year-on-year.
BMZ’s overall output increased 0.7% on the year in January-April to 1.339 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br).
Sales increased 37.7% on the year to 1.309 trillion rubles.
BMZ’s exports increased 27.5% on the year to USD 352.774 million.
State company Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output. Non-CIS countries account for more than 70% of the BMZ’s exports.
