CPC Launches New Pipeline Section in Kazakhstan
OREANDA-NEWS. June 23, 2010. CPC has mechanically completed and commissioned a new 130 km section of its mainline oil pipeline starting from the Tengiz Pump Station in the Atyrau Region, Republic of Kazakhstan, reported the press-centre of CPC.
The new pipeline section is designed and built to follow a safer bypass route in lieu of the old original 116 km section built back in 1991 that passed too close to the Caspian Sea, crossing areas subjected to regular spring floods.
The new pipeline section has been successfully hydrotested. The commissioning of the new pipe section will increase reliability and safety of CPC pipeline operation and ensure operating capacity required to support pipeline operations after CPC Expansion up to 67 MPA. The Expansion Project includes further upgrades of some sections of the pipe.
