Chairman of Gasunie to Lead South Stream
OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2010. Marcel Kramer, Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer of Gasunie will be appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of the South Stream pipeline project. The date of his inauguration is scheduled for October 1, 2010.
Marcel Kramer will be responsible for the comprehensive execution of the South Stream project including for the engineering, permitting process, financing, construction and operation of the project’s Black Sea section as well as its onshore sections in the territory of foreign countries.
Marcel Kramer was born in August 1950 in Hilversum (Netherlands). In 1975 he graduated from Nijmegen University. Marcel Kramer holds a degree in Private and Corporate Law.
Between 1976 and 1979 he worked at the Oil and Coal Department of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
From 1979 to 1982 he served in oil- and gas-related positions at NATO Headquarters, Brussels.
Between 1982 and 1988 he was Head of the Oil Industry Division at the International Energy Agency in Paris.
From 1988 to 1992 Marcel Kramer worked at Petro-Canada as Director, Crude Oil Supply and Trading. From 1992 to 2003 he held managerial positions with Statoil. Throughout his 12-year career with the Norwegian company he took part in numerous projects for hydrocarbons exploration, production, transportation, processing and marketing by offshore gas pipeline inclusive.
In 2003 Marcel Kramer joined Gasunie as Managing Director of the Technology and Assets Division. Since July 2005 – Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer of Gasunie.
In November 2007 Marcel Kramer was elected President of Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), the European association of companies operating and/or owning pipeline networks, LNG terminals and gas storage facilities. In 2008 he was elected President of the Royal Dutch Gas Association (KVGN).
Marcel Kramer is Member of the Shareholders’ Committee with Nord Stream AG.
