TNK-BP to Remediate 40 Hectares of Land at Varyoganneftegaz in 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2010. Varyoganneftegaz (a subsidiary of TNK-BP) plans to remediate 40 hectares of contaminated land this year. Thirty two hectares will be handed over to the state. Experts of Varyoganneftegaz aim to complete the work in-house, using the resources of their accident response shop. The company will also remediate and hand over to the state 15 drill cuttings and waste pits during 2010. This work will be performed by contactors, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.
Remediation operations are underway in the vicinity of well pads 272 and 1 at the Severo-Varyoganskoye field and of the tie-in point for pad 38 at the Verkhne-Kolik-Yoganskoye field. At the Khokhryakovskoe field an area of 0.3 hectares has been tilled in the vicinity of pad 57, and around 2.33 hectares – near the central oil gathering facility. Twenty eight cubic meters of peat have been delivered to the Orekhovo-Ermakovskoe licence block and 7 cubic meters of soil – to the vicinity of pads 274 and 262.
