Freight One’s Irkutsk Branch Increases Haulage of Imported Goods
OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2010. Freight One’s Irkutsk branch hauled 2000 boxcars with more than 117,000 tons of freight in May, a nearly fourfold increase over the May 2009 figures of 577 cars and about 34,000 tons.
Loading in boxcars has been increasing at a record pace since the start of the year. The monthly figures are: 56 tons in January, 75,000 tons in February, more than 82,000 tons in March and 98,000 tons in April
The record (for the branch) loading result was due to an increase in the proportion of imported goods in the total haulage from Zabaikalsk Station, where a Freight One office was opened in January.
Construction freight from Chitavneshtrans LLC, peanuts and pumpkin seeds from Orekhovy Mir Company and rice from Mortransbunker Company began to arrive in Russia in Freight One cars from the transfer terminal on the border with China in April and May.
Freight One hauls pulp, timber and aluminum wire rod for export to China.
