DTEK Appointed Coal Mining Director
OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2010. Ukraine’s leading fuel and energy company, announces that it has appointed Sergey Stepanov as Coal Mining Director. Before joining the Company, Mr. Stepanov occupied the position of Chief Operating Officer of Vorkutaugol, part of Severstal Resources, one of the largest Russian producers of coking coal.
The main task of DTEK’s new senior manager is to improve the operational performance and efficiency of DTEK’s coal production and enrichment business.
”Two key factors, people and technology, lay the foundation of success for any company. DTEK has done a lot to build up its safety system and our task is to integrate these standards into our daily operations to minimize industrial injuries. It’s very important to continue the introduction of innovative technologies and carry on the programme of production upgrades, which applies to all the enterprises comprising the Company’s coal business. It will enable us to considerably increase tunneling and coal output and satisfy the growing demand for fuel from DTEK’s power generating business and that of our partners,” Sergey Stepanov stated.
“Sergey Stepanov combines experience of strategy development and operational management. He has participated in developing strategic plans and introducing key changes at several large industrial companies. He has also implemented projects that raised productivity and efficiency of investment programmes at one of Russia’s leading coal-mining companies. I’m certain that this experience will help achieve the strategic goals that DTEK’s coal business faces today,” Yuriy Ryzhenkov, DTEK COO, commented.
Yevgeniy Romashchin, who left DTEK to join Mining Machines OJSC as the General Director, was the Coal Mining Director from August 2008 until February 2010.
