OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2010. The meeting between Shafagat Takhautdinov, General Director of OAO TATNEFT, and Vagit Alekperov, President of LUKOIL, was held in Kazan. The two sides exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

In particular the Parties discussed mutual cooperation in providing services in Iraq at West Qurna-2 oil field. The Parties also considered participation of TatNIPIneft R&D Institute (part of TATNEFT) in the tender for designing of fields' facilities construction, as well as participation Tatarstan's service companies, including OAO TNG-Group, in tenders for providing services for seismic exploration, well log studies in the process of well drilling.

During the meeting the Parties also discussed production and application of new materials and products such as metal/pipes in the formation pressure maintenance system, measures of reducing energy consumption, increasing maintenance intervals of equipment operating in high-viscosity medium.

In addition TATNEFT Company expressed interest in the fastest completion of pilot projects of OAO "RITEK" (subsidiary of LUKOIL) for downhole steam generator for in situ heat treatment of heavy oil.

The same day, the Companies' Top Executives of participated in a meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan and Chairman of the Board of Directors of OAO TATNEFT. The outcome of this meeting was that both Parties agreed on preparation of a permanent agreement between the Republic and LUKOIL Company, with summarizing results of its implementation on an annual basis. In the course of the conversation with R.N. Minnikhanov, V. Yu. Alekperov noted that LUKOIL performs exploration and development of oil deposits and retail sales of petroleum products in the territory of Tatarstan. There are partnership relations in export of crude oil and petroleum products.

Information reference.
A Cooperation Agreement on between the Government of Tatarstan and LUKOIL, which remains valid till December 31, 2011, was signed in 2007. Inter alia, the Agreement provides for interaction of the Parties to improve functioning efficiency of the fuel and energy complex in Tatarstan, development of mineral resource base and natural resources management, sustainable support for companies, institutions and population of the Republic in providing fuel and lubricants. The Parties agreed that TATNEFT, which expressed its intention to develop cooperation with LUKOIL, will take part in implementation of the Agreement.
