Slovakia Interested in Joint Tourism Projects with Belarus
OREANDA-NEWS. June 10, 2010. Slovakia would like to develop joint tourism business with Belarus in general and Gomel Oblast in particular, Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Belarus Marian Servatka told reporters in Gomel.
The diplomat is confident that by traveling people get to learn more the history and traditions of a country and establish contacts which will then grow into business ties. “There are a lot of mountains and thermal springs in Slovakia. Belarus is famous for its lakes and wildlife sanctuaries,” the Ambassador said when speaking about possible tourism routes. According to him, opining a direct air service between Minsk and one of Slovak cities would contribute to the closer cooperation.
During the meeting with the chairman of the Gomel oblast executive committee, Alexander Yakobson, the Ambassador said that Belarusian producers of agricultural equipment and farm produce should get more exposure by taking a more active part in exhibition hosted by Slovakia.
During the working trip around the Gomel Oblast Marian Servatka visited the Gomel-Raton free economic zone, Spartak joint venture, the Gomel Palace and Gardens and also the rowing facility where he got familiar with the presentation of sports facilities and tourist potential of the oblast.
