President Yanukovych Met with Turkish Prime Minister
OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2010. In Istanbul, President Viktor Yanukovych held bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In an interview after the meeting the President of Ukraine informed that the parties have agreed on the official visit of the Turkish Prime Minister to Ukraine.
"We will establish a high level strategic council between Turkey and Ukraine," said Viktor Yanukovych explaining that the body would be chaired by the Prime Minister of Turkey and the President of Ukraine.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, there is a number of directions, on which our countries should intensify their relations, particularly cooperation of the two states’ businesses, their bilateral trade, etc.
In addition, the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Turkey discussed cooperation between our countries in extraction of oil and gas in the Black Sea shelf.
"It is also a very interesting question. I believe that to the arrival of the Prime Minister of Turkey in Ukraine, our intergovernmental group would elaborate its suggestions, and thus we will open opportunities to diversify our energy supplies," said Viktor Yanukovych.
