RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2010.Over the week of May 31 – June 4, 2010, the RTS Index went down by 0.45% to reach 1,360.74 points (1,366.90 points as of May 28, 2010). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of NLMK (NLMK) (down 6.51 points) followed by ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (down 5.22 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSNS) (down 4.29 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 1.95% to reach 9,160.47 points (8,985.64 points as of May 28, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 2.33% closing at 1,658.79 points (1,620.96 points as of May 28, 2010). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the telecom sector, with the RTS Telecom Index adding 2.85%. A significant growth was also shown by the consumer & retail sector, with the RTS Consumer & Retail Index going up by 1.30%. The largest decline was seen in the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index falling 4.92%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 0.05% against the ruble to reach 30.89 rubles per US dollar (30.88 rubles as of May 28, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week May 31 – June 4, 2010 equaled USD11.1 billion (342.6 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,545.7 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,011.5 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD772.6 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD259.4 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 39.09%, 29.86% and 10.02% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) that went up by 30.91% to USD4.15, ordinary shares of OJSC "Polyus Gold" (PLZL) that gained 21.98% to USD49.40 and ordinary shares of V.Bank (VZRZ) that went up by 15.56% to USD31.20.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC "WGC-3" (OGKC) that fell in price by 8.62% to reach USD0.053 followed by ordinary shares of OAO Raspadskaya (RASP) that lost 6.32% to reach USD4.45 and ordinary shares of "VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation" (VSMO) that shed 6.0% to reach USD94.00.
