Ashgabat Textile Forum: Towards Long-Term Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2010. The economic forum brought together the leading Turkmen and foreign specialists, the businessmen and private produces from the Republic of Korea, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, Russia, Belgium and other countries in the conference hall of the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan in the framework of the International Conference on the Key Trends in Development of Textile Industry in Turkmenistan.
The priority aspects of development of Turkmenistan’s textile industry and the prospects for mutually advantageous cooperation to implement its profound potential were the focus of the reports presented at the forum. A high demand in ginned cotton, natural fabrics and other textile goods on the world markets conditions the leading role of this sector in the export potential of the country.
The profound resource potential, application of advanced technologies and wide introduction of innovations, the priority of international quality standards and environmental requirements stir up an interest of foreign companies in intensifying business partnership in various sectors in the textile industry.
The forum participants noted that Turkmenistan had accumulated a solid experience of cooperation with foreign partners on large-scale investment projects in particular, and this collaboration was maintained and brought up to a higher level of business partnership today. The examples included construction of the state-of-the-art enterprise in Ruhabat – the factory producing mixed yarn from ginned cotton and polyester that would enable to develop the production of a new product that was in high demand on the world textile markets as well as enhance the capacity of producers to broaden a range of fabrics and readymade garments.
The opportunities for expanding mutually advantageous and long-term cooperation were reflected in the presentations of state-of-the-art textile equipment made by the foreign companies including Swiss Rieter, Italian Marzoli and Savio, German Schlafhorst and Truetzschler – the world’s leading spinning machine manufacturers.
Latest technologies and innovations in producing and dyeing silk fabric including velour and velvet were presented by the Korean companies that were keenly interested in operating on the very promising Turkmen market. In particular, the Korean specialists put forward the proposals to establish cooperation in training highly qualified textile workers and applying innovations in the textile industry of Turkmenistan.
Summing up the meeting, the participants called for maintaining the fruitful dialogue by implementing new joint projects in particular that would expand effective cooperation.
