Atomstroyexport to Discuss Cost Issues of NPP Construction in Belarus
OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2010. The news was communicated to journalists by the Belarus’ authority’s chief engineer Anatoly Bondar in Minsk. He said the meeting is set for May 20–21 in Minsk. “We are waiting for the Atomstroyexport delegation to discuss principles of pricing of NPP construction in Belarus”, Anatoly Bondar said. For this purpose a document consisting of three parts has been already developed. The parties have also prepared schedules and terms of payment. Now it is necessary to determine the fixed and variable component of the price, as well as contents of each part.
At the same time, A.Bondar noted further, arrival of the specialists from Atomstroyexport in Minsk and discussion of the pricing issues “doesn’t mean that they will be completely solved”. Possibly, this will require additional working meetings. A two-unit NPP with almost 2.4 GW capacities is to be constructed in Belarus. The future plant will be located at Ostrovetskaya ground in Grodnenskaya region.
Commissioning of the first power unit is expected in 2016, the second — in 2018 году. In May of the previous year in Minsk the Intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy was signed by Belarus and Russia. The next step must be signing of the intergovernmental agreement on NPP construction, as well as financial credit instruments and contractual arrangement between Atomstroyexport CJSC and the state authority NPP Construction Directorate.
