Ukraine to Boost Economy of Zaporizhya Region
OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2010. Zaporizhya region, despite its considerable potential, lags behind in terms of the volume of industrial production growth of the neighbouring industrialized regions - Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk and Dnipropetrovsk. This was announced by First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev in Zaporizhya during the extended meeting on development of the region.
According to him, the Government of Ukraine, regional and local authorities must work hard to encourage the development of regional economy. According to the First Vice Prime Minister’s data, among the above-mentioned regions Zaporizhya region has the largest ratio of the unemployed.
Andriy Klyuyev said that the Government and regional state administration must decide in the shortest time programs of each sector and each enterprise. According to him, it is planned to withdraw separately unprofitable productions from the crisis.
The First Vice Prime Minister said that the Government would take measures to support the domestic automobile industry. According to him, the fall in output in Zaporizhya Automobile Building Plant was 77% last year.
Andriy Klyuyev also announced plans of the Cabinet to revive titanium industry. According to him, last year Zaporizhya Titanium-Magnesium Combine finished with a loss in the amount of 205 million UAH., accumulated large debts for energy consumption.
According to the First Vice Prime Minister, to solve problems of national economic recovery on the agenda of every manager should be the construction, investments, innovations, energy efficiency and control over the implementation practice and financial discipline. To fulfil the ambitious aims set by the power headed by the President of Ukraine, the Government and all local officials must work ten times more and more qualitative than before.
The First Vice Prime Minister added that similar meetings on the regional development with his participation are to be held every 2-3 weeks.
