TNK-BP Executives Visit Fields in Yamal-Nenets & Northern Krasnoyarsk
OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2010. TNK-BP executives have visited the Suzunskoe and Tagulskoe fields in the north of Krasnoyarsk Region, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.
The delegation included TNK-BP Executive Director German Khan, Chief Operating Officer Bill Schrader, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Maxim Barskiy, Executive Vice President Upstream Sergey Brezitsky, Executive Vice President Support Services Anatoly Tyomkin, Vice President and Director of the TNK-BP Siberia Branch in Tyumen Oleg Chemezov, Vice President of the company’s South-East Area Viktor Blagoveschensky, and General Director of ROSPAN INTERNATIONAL Rustem Bakirov.
At the Suzunskoe field the TNK-BP executives toured an accommodation camp and familiarized themselves with drilling activities. They then took a flight to view the Tagulskoe field from the air.
On June 5, the TNK-BP delegation together with the Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District (YaNAO) Dmitriy Kobylkin visited fields being developed by the company in YaNAO.
At the Vostochno-Urengoiskoe field they will learn about plans to develop gas and condensate production. And at the Russkoe field there will be a meeting on the use of innovative techniques and plans for the further development of TNK-BP’s fields in YNAO.
Notes to editors:
The Suzunskoe oil field is located in the north of Krasnoyarsk Region, within the Arctic Circle. This is the best-explored of the fields being developed by TNK-BP in the region: it’s geology is well understood and it contains reserves of high-quality light oil. In 2009, TNK-BP studied data acquired during a pilot project launched the previous year. The company also processed the results of a 3D seismic survey at the field and built geological models of the field’s structure. Other activities included construction of field facilities and planning of a field development feasibility study. In 2010, TNK-BP plans to continue the pilot development at Suzunksoe and study various field infrastructure options.
The Tagulskoe oil field is also located in the north of Krasnoyarsk Region within the Arctic Circle. It has a complicated structure with numerous reservoirs containing waxy oil. In 2009, TNK-BP launched the first pilot development project and drilled the first of five planned wells. Rock samples have confirmed the presence of oil. Engineering work is currently underway for construction of a well pad. In 2010, the company plans to drill the four remaining wells in the first pilot project, to conduct well tests and update the geological and reservoir models, while also continuing its exploration work.
The Russkoe field is a gigantic development containing viscous oil. By the end of 2009, TNK-BP had drilled eight wells into the field and carried out a limited test programme. Extended well tests were not possible, as the field currently lacks oil storage and transportation infrastructure. The tests on the new wells produced high flow-rates. In late 2009, the company organized oil transportation by road and built some field infrastructure, including facilities at the next well pad and the first phase of an oil acceptance and delivery point. Survey work was carried out for construction of the Suzunskoe – Tagulskoe – Russkoe – Purpe pipeline, field infrastructure options were reviewed and methods of reducing oil viscosity were studied. In 2010, there are plans to build a road for oil transportation and supply of materials and equipment to the field. The pilot production stage at the Russkoe field is expected to end in 2012.
