Ukraine Allocated 2 bln UAH to Support Agro-Industrial Complex
OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2010. The state should help farmers to survive this financially difficult year. Therefore, while considering amendments to the State Budget of Ukraine for 2010 the agrarian bloc of the Government will offer to allocate additionally at least 2 billion UAH to finance the formation of the state grain reserves and program of rates reimbursement for the use of loans of commercial banks. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Slauta said this today at an expanded meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Ukraine devoted to the condition and prospects of the agro-industrial complex development.
Another direction of the state support to the agricultural sector, according to the VIce Prime Minister of Ukraine, is in solving the problems of gas, electricity and water supply of farmers during the harvest and fall field works, including maintaining tariffs on water supply organizations services for watering of agricultural crops and so on.
Victor Slauta also supported the position of Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov that our country should not become a raw materials appendage for developed countries. "Ukraine has already been a member of the WTO for three years. As a result we have lost the position on meat by 5 times, milk - 2,5 times. In 2009 once again were significantly reduced import duties on foodstuffs. So we need to reconsider our policy to protect domestic producers", said the head of the agricultural bloc of the Government.
At the meeting were also discussed issues concerning the reform of public land management, greater control over the pricing of agricultural products and products after processing, the reform of agricultural education and science and so on.
Further to the meeting several instructions were given.
