Ukraine PM Considers Main Task to Stabilize Situation in Agriculture
OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2010. The stabilization of the economic situation in the agricultural sector, together with recovery of construction and restoration of the industry, are now the priorities for the Ukrainian Government. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov underlined that during the enlarged meeting on the analysis of the situation and prospects of agribusiness development.
The Head of the Government noted that today in agriculture, there are many problems that require immediate solutions.
According to Mykola Azarov, Ukraine must focus not only on the export of grain crops, but also is to develop its own agricultural markets. "Would it be not rational to process everything we receive and collect, and then to export in the form of finished products? Of course, this cannot be done in a month, and maybe even in a year. But we are not temporary worker, we must lay the foundations for years" - the Head of the Government said.
Mykola Azarov also drew attention to the situation with the reduction of cattle in Ukraine and critically assessed the work of national agricultural science, which annually "masters" upto 500 mln.UAH of budget money, but does not give significant results.
Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that during today's meeting it is necessary to determine ways to address the problematic issues. He also charged the Vice Prime Minister Viktor Slauta to take control over the decision of problems and to analyze the first results in a month.
