RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2010. Over the week of May 24 – May 28, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 5.32% to reach 1,366.9 points (1,297.91 points as of May 21, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 12.29 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSNS) (plus 10.27 points) and ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 6.16 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 4.37% to reach 8,985.64 points (8,609.16 points as of May 21, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 1.85% closing at 1,620.96 points (1,591.52 points as of May 21, 2010). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the oil & gas sector, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index adding 6.17%. A significant increase was also shown by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index going up by 5.95%. A decline was demonstrated by the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index losing 4.76%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 0.41% against the ruble to reach 30.9 rubles per US dollar (30.8 rubles as of May 21, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of May 24 – May 28, 2010 equaled USD11.1 billion (345.6 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,591.5 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD947.04 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD848.1 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD231.03 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 35.73%, 32% and 8.72% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-1" (OGKA) that went up by 19.4% to USD0.04 followed by ordinary shares of "Bank "Saint-Petersburg" OJSC (STBK) – by 14.29% to USD3 and ordinary shares of "MOSTOTREST" (MSTT) – by 14.29% to reach USD1,000.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of URALSIB (USBN) that fell 16.67% to reach USD0.004 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "TGC-1" (TGKA) that lost 12.12% to reach USD0.00058 and ordinary shares of ОАО "PROTEK", JSC (PRTK) that shed 9.33% to reach USD3.4.
