OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2010. Petr Baskakov, General Director of TransContainer, said that TransContainer, RZD’s subsidiary, started train deliveries of automotive components for Sollers from Italy to Russia.

The parties signed an annual agreement with the possibility to extend it later. It provides for the delivery of 400 containers per month.

The components are designed for the Sollers factory in Tatarstan, where Fiat Ducato cars are assembled.

Before that, components were carried by sea through Novorossiysk. TransContainer’s service cost is "from 5% to 7% cheaper," said Mr Baskakov.

He clarified that the first part of the cargo for Sollers has left the plant last Wednesday. The train should arrive in Russia on Tuesday.
