EBRD Recommends Azerbaijani Govt to Give Attention to Private Sector
OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2010. A delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Board of Directors, which is on a four-day visit to Azerbaijan, held a number of meetings with the country’s state structures.
Head of the delegation Simon Ray said, in the course of the meetings attention, for the most part, was given to getting familiarizing with current situation in the country and definition of priorities for future cooperation in various sectors.
“We held meetings in the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry for Economic Development, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and other organizations in banking and other sectors of economics.
“We appreciate positively policy of Azerbaijan in sphere of management of oil resources. However, in the course of the meetings, special attention was given to development of non-oil sector. In the course of the meeting, held in CBA, we recommended to give special attention to development of private financial sector,” S. Ray said.
According to him, priority of EBRD on Azerbaijan is support of the country in diversification of economics.
