OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2010. Following the completion of several premise lease public tenders, the summer season greets the passengers of Vilnius International Airport (VIA) with brand new cafes and snack bars, an ice-cream shop, a sales outlet, and a bookshop, reported the press-centre of VIA.

Vilnius Airport has completed several public tenders concerning premise lease and activity of new services and operators that are to work at the airport. Some premises and areas that were offered for lease received particular attention from entrepreneurs: over 100 applications were submitted to lease the commercial areas, and some areas had as many as 10 applicants each.

‘Such a great interest in the premises offered for lease shows that the airport is attractive to entrepreneurs. We therefore invite business companies to engage in further cooperation in the development of operations at the airport. The airport offers commercial premises for various activities’, Simonas Bartkus, head of the Department of Commerce of Vilnius International Airport, said.

Mr Bartkus stated that the new Alaus Uostas (‘Beer Port’) bar will open soon at the departure hall of the airport, which will offer various types of beer and national dishes. The Dione ice-cream shop of Zemaitijos Pienas will open there as well in early June, which will sell natural Dione ice-cream.

The sterile area, which can be accessed by departing passengers only, will be supplemented in early June with another sales outlet of UAB Travel Retail Vilnius, which will, among other things, sell Lithuanian souvenirs and alcoholic beverages. Furthermore, this area will be supplemented with two new catering spaces: the Juta Jazz Kava fast-food and snack bar (planned to be opened in early June) offering fresh coffee, snacks, and beer, and the COFFEE HILL snack bar (planned to be opened in late June) offering fresh juice, coffee, and sandwiches.

In late June, the non-Schengen sterile area will have a new fast-food bar Fast’N’Fresh offering sandwiches, snacks, and desserts. A Lietuvos Spauda bookshop will also be opened in the sterile area.

These new outlets are provided at the airport considering the passenger survey data. The demand for new services at the airport is increasing with the increase in the number of passengers.
