OREANDA-NEWS. June 01, 2010. Following its Compass 2010 project SCM supported another research on Ukraine's universities: the ranking prepared by Korrespondent magazine and published on 21 May 2010.

Last year Korrespondent was a media-partner of SCM's project Compass 2009 Ukrainian University Ranking.

In 2010, the magazine decided to compile an own ranking and SCM supported the initiative by helping the edition collect the needed data. In fact, gathering the initial information is the most difficult stage requiring the biggest effort in any research. Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) interviewed employers for the Korrespondent's ranking after a request from SCM.

The ranking by Korrespondent is different from our Compass, firstly, in terms of research methods and thus the results. The other aspects – the commitment to make an objective assessment of the Ukrainian universities, help the school leavers make an informed choice before entrance exams and, finally,  produce a positive impact on the quality of higher education in Ukraine – make our projects similar. We believe that the more objective and applied projects Ukraine has, the sooner the national system of higher education will be able to integrate into the global system", said Natalya Kryvulina, Project Manager and Compass Project Manager at SCM.

To collect information for Korrespondent's ranking the researchers interviewed representatives of 32 leading businesses in Ukraine. Managers and HR specialists in the respondent companies called the schools, which provide the best education and whose graduates they are more likely to hire. SCM handed over the survey results to Korrespondent for further work on the ranking. Following the method developed by the magazine, nine best universities received from 1 to 9 points (9 - for the first place and 1 for the ninth place) depending on how the employers assessed them.
