OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2010. Heads of services, heads of departments and leading experts on corrosion control and environment control of OAO TATNEFT, structural divisions and management of companies discussed the issues of improving the efficiency of the oilfield equipment protection against corrosion at a specialized seminar held at premises of the "Youth" health improvement camp of NGDU Almetyevneft, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

Over 70 participants, including representatives from TatNIPIneft R&D Institute, Engineering Center, OOO TruboprovodServis Management Company, OOO Tatneft-KhimServis and a number of third-party companies - suppliers of electrochemical protection equipment and equipment for electrochemical corrosion monitoring, which cooperate with TATNEFT, were presented 22 reports on this subject.

The main issues of the discussion were the effectiveness of ongoing activities, search for reserves to reduce operational costs and further improve reliability and durability of corrosion protection of underground pipelines, production casing of wells, as well as storage equipment.

Presentations made by the representatives from NGDU Almetyevneft and NGDU Elkhovneft on arranging real time telemetric monitoring of cathodic protection stations were treated by specialists with great interest. A report of an NGDU Bavlyneft specialist on the subject of concurrent cathodic protection of vertical steel tanks' bottoms and intra-site pipelines from soil corrosion at the sites of sulphur recovery and crude oil treatment facilities, as well as application of the combined protection design of vertical steel tanks by one cathodic protection station from the soil and internal corrosion was also noted.

Experience of OAO TATNEFT in the field of corrosion protection of pipelines and the oil field equipment has been positively appraised by the Russian scientific and technical society of oilmen and gasmen named after I.M. Gubkin, which has made a proposal to the management of the Company to arrange an All-Russia seminar on the subject on the basis of TATNEFT this fall.
