Tatneft Introduces New Algorithm for Computation of Liquid Influx
OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2010. Experts of TatNIPIneft R&D Institute and Engineering Center of OAO TATNEFT have developed a new solution algorithm that allows computation of the liquid influx through the tubing from under-the-packer area and implemented it into "ARMITS" integrated information system, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.
A software product of TatNIPIneft R&D Institute has been implemented in the CIS "ARMITS" that permits to perform computation of such values as productivity factor, liquid influx, formation and bottomhole pressure, etc. There is an algorithm provided in this program for simultaneous computation of the liquid influx through the annulus and tubing.
In preparing of wells for the introduction of dual completion and operation the formation intended to be put in for dual operation should be investigated to determine the characteristics of the bottomhole area (level recovery curve, pressure recovery curve).
In practice the swabbing stimulation treatment process is very often performed under the packer (i.e. the tested formation is disconnected from both the lower and the upper layers). In such cases, the pressure recovery curve for such a stratum has a tendency to quickly recover with time. Therefore, when calculating the inflow of fluid with application of the existing algorithms, we obtain over-estimate values of the liquid influx and wells productivity index.
The new algorithm allows the calculations of the liquid influx to be made with a high degree of accuracy, which is confirmed by experiments.
In addition to accelerating the process of formation testing in case of dual completion and operation the algorithm can be used in processing test results of the well development with packer application after drilling.
