RTS Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. May 28, 2010. Over the week of May 17 – May 21, 2010, the RTS Index went down by 9.97% to reach 1,297.91 points (1,441.68 points as of May 14, 2010). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (down 26.94 points) followed by ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (down 21.71 points) and ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 17.83 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 7.28% to reach 8,609.16 points (9,284.64 points as of May 14, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 8.53% closing at 1,591.52 points (1,740.00 points as of May 14, 2010). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest decline was reported by the financial sector, with the RTS Finances Index shedding 12.38%. A significant decrease was also shown by the oil & gas sector, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index shrinking by 10.81%. The slightest decline was seen in the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index falling 3.42%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 2.99% against the ruble to reach 30.8 rubles per US dollar (29.9 rubles as of May 14, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week May 17 – May 21, 2010 equaled USD12.92 billion (394.4 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD3,056.92 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,272.63 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD804.58 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD310.42 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 40.75%, 25.76% and 9.94% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of OJSC Sibirtelekom (ENCO) that went up by 3.15% to USD0.0557, ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-6" (OGKF) that gained 3.01% to USD0.038 and ordinary shares of OJSC "Kazanorgsintez" (KZOS) that went up by 2.78% to USD0.185.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of ОАО "Pharmacy Chain 36,6" (APTK) that fell in price by 21.69% to reach USD2.6 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "TGC-2" (TGKB) that lost 20.59% to reach USD0.00027 and ordinary shares of "Bank "Saint-Petersburg" OJSC (STBK) that shed 20.45% to reach USD2.625.
