Belarusian Metal Plants Steel Output Reduced 12.6%
OREANDA-NEWS. May 27, 2010. Steel output of Zhlobin-based Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ) amounted to 558,117 tonnes in January-March 2010, down 12.6% on the year, an official with the plant told.
Rolled stock output decreased 2.2% to 518,668 tonnes, and pipe output rose 90% to 21,106 tonnes.
Metal cord output went up 10.3% to 24,671 tonnes. Steel cord output rose 23% to 42,695 tonnes.
Bead wire output amounted to 7,449 tonnes, down 21.8% year-on-year.
BMZ’s overall output increased 14.5% on the year in January-March to 968,799 billion Belarusian rubles (Br).
Total sales increased 31.4% on the year to 988,993 rubles.
BMZ’s exports increased 16.9% on the year to USD 257.868 million.
State company Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output. Non-CIS countries account for more than 70% of the BMZ’s exports.
