OREANDA-NEWS. May 27, 2010. The intensification and dynamic development of cooperation between Ukraine and China were noted during the two past months. This was unanimously stated by participants of the meeting of Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov with the representatives of China National Machinery Industry Complete Engineering Corporation (CMCEC).

The rapid recovery of Ukrainian-Chinese dialogue took place after the talks of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao in Washington, as well as after the first in nine years visit of Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi to Ukraine.

First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev said that the Government attaches priority to Sino-Ukrainian cooperation. According to him, Ukraine is interested in the inflow of foreign investment, primarily to infrastructure projects in the context of European Football Championship in 2012 carrying in Ukraine.

Andrei Klyuyev identified three areas of possible cooperation between Ukraine and China: infrastructure projects (airports, roads, railway stations, energy projects and mining operations). "We are now to develop intensively these areas. We are ready to mutual beneficial cooperation with you in these areas" - he stressed and added: "We are ready to cooperate, we are open, and any help in organizing your work will be provided to you".

However, the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov reminded that during his meeting with Yang Jiechi he underlined that Ukraine was interested in attracting Chinese investment to Ukraine: "These projects, enumerated by Mr. Klyuyev, are very important for us."

The Prime Minister said that he would now sign the necessary orders to initiate cooperation in this regard: "I am ready to sign today - prepare the order – anything what is required. The First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev and I will keep personal control of these projects. The execution is yours" - Mykola Azarov emphasized.

In his turn, the Director-General of the China National Machinery Industry Complete Engineering Corporation (CMCEC) Bai Sun noted that prior to visit Ukraine the company has received full support and authority from the Chinese Government and financial institutions of China. He noted that after the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of China the Ministry of Commerce jointly with other state agencies and banks has identified several priority projects of cooperation with Ukraine: Darnitsa-Boryspil high-speed rail construction, airport "Borispol" runway construction, treatment plants and waste incinerator in the Kiev region, projects related to alternative energy sources etc. "We are very pleased that literally during last 2 months our relationship shows a tendency to intensification" - he stressed.

Bai Sun noted that China National Machinery Industry Complete Engineering Corporation is involved in the technical equipping of major infrastructure projects. Major infrastructure projects in Beijing and in general in China are executed by the National Corporation.

He said the company is engaged in internal arrangement of cities (sewage, electricity, transport, roads, sea and river ports, waste incineration plants, bridges, road interchanges) and foreign trade activities (construction and equipping of water towers, power stations, bridges, roads and etc.).
The Chinese delegation arrived in Ukraine comprised the CMCEC leading experts on all mention specialities, who will begin in the coming days the substantive project work with Ukrainian colleagues.
