OREANDA-NEWS. May 27, 2010. Prime Minister Vladimir Filat noted that he had done an analysis on 22 medicines sold in Moldova and Romania, and noted that in some cases the price difference reaches 862%.

The Prime Minister said that though there are many speculations on the high prices for medicines, their poor quality, fraudulent selling schemes, nothing was done to improve the situation. Vladimir Filat said he expects the concrete results in the shortest possible time. He requested the Ministry of Health to report within 3 days on the fact of increasing price of injections, produced by SC "Farmaco", by 70-150%, starting from this year.

The premier called on the competent structures to analyze quality of medicines and if necessary, to draft a law on the establishment of laboratories for quality control, adding that the development partners can help Moldova in this regard. Vladimir Filat has also urged those responsible to amend the legislation relating to the establishment of trade margin. The premier asked to submit him the detailed information on the procurement of medical equipment in recent years, adding that in many cases funds allocated had been simply stolen.
