RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2010. Over the week of May 11 – May 14, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 5.24% to reach 1,441.68 points (1,369.91 points as of May 7, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 19.42 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (plus 10.09 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSNS) (plus 8.40 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 4.64% to reach 9,284.64 points (8,872.6 points as of May 7, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 1.69% closing at 1,740.0 points (1,711.01 points as of May 7, 2010). Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index adding 6.46%. A significant increase was also shown by the consumer & retail sector, with the RTS Consumer & Retail Index going up by 4.9%. A decline was only demonstrated by the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index losing 0.71%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 1.44% against the ruble to reach 29.9 rubles per US dollar (30.3 rubles as of May 7, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of May 11 – May 14, 2010 equaled USD10.61 billion (321.3 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,591.32 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,228.68 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD692.24 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD200.76 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 46.66%, 26.29% and 7.62% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of SOLLERS OJSC (SVAV) that went up by 26.18% to USD17.35 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-1" (OGKA) – by 17.14% to USD0.041 and ordinary shares of AO MOSENERGO (MSNG) – by 15.26% to reach USD0.1095.

The week's top losers were preferred shares of MDM Bank (MDMBP) that fell 31.51% to reach USD0.5 followed by ordinary shares of OAO Raspadskaya (RASP) that lost 17.44% to reach USD4.83 and ordinary shares of IDGC of Urals, JSC (MRKU) that shed 14.52% to reach USD0.00889.
