OREANDA-NEWS. May 24, 2010. Farmers in Mary Velayat, one of the largest agro-industrial regions of the country, started the harvest campaign. Local grain growers inspired by the blessing of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to this year’s harvest campaign intend to reap rich wheat harvest on the 200,000-hectare area without losses at the earliest possible date.

It should be noted that according to specialists this year’s wheat harvest is expected to be rich, and Mary grain growers have every reason to gather in 380,000 tons of high-quality wheat.

446 Case and John Deere grain combines are engaged in the harvest campaign this season. 1,500 trucks will deliver wheat to 43 receiving points that will work round-the-clock.

This year, grain growers of Gyzylgum farmers association in Sakarchaga Etrap were the first to start the harvest campaign in Mary Velayat. By tradition, the elders blessed the start of the campaign by mowing down the first reaped ears and presenting the sheaves to combine operators.

The artists of the velayat cultural centre performed a concert to mark the start of the harvest campaign.
