China Stresses on Strengthening Technological Cooperation with Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. May 24, 2010. China is interested in developing scientific and technological cooperation with Ukraine. Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said this at a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
“We propose that the sides intensify mutual development and production between scientific and technological companies and scientific research institutes in order to promote the introduction of scientific and technical achievements”, emphasized Yang Jiechi.
Chinese Foreign Minister noted that the sides currently could and should spend unused resources in order to achieve a serious breakthrough in scientific and technical cooperation. We could learn a lot from Ukraine, in particular, in the space industry, aviation, and shipbuilding," he added.
At the same time, Yang Jiechi noted that China hopes for cooperation under the existed bilateral projects regardless of the change of power in Ukraine.
For his part, Ukrainian PM Mykola Azarov assured Chinese Foreign Minister that mutually beneficial contracts signed under previous governments will be supported and realized by the current Government. “We must accelerate the fulfillment of the contracts”.
“We are ready to further the implementation of joint projects in Ukraine”, said Mykola Azarov. The Government and I personally as Prime Minister are ready not just to pay attention but personally control the fulfillment of joint projects.
In addition, Mykola Azarov delivered a message of the Government to his Chinese counterpart that includes strategic vision of Ukrainian and Chinese relations, joint projects.
Ukrainian PM remarked that the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi is the first one over last nine years and, at the same time, Chinese Prime Minister have not been in Ukraine fifteen years.
For his part, Yang Jiechi has thanked for the invitation of Chinese Prime Minister and added:” We welcome you, dear Prime Minister, to visit our country”.
