Austrian Strabag Keen on Energy, Road Construction Projects in Belarus
OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2010. Vienna-based construction concern Strabag AG is interested in the implementation of investment projects in the energy and road construction sector in Belarus, Vice President of the company Peter Krammer said as he met with Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky, reported the Official website government.by.
“Our primary interest is the construction of hydroelectric power plants, the Minsk second ring road and environmental protection projects,” Peter Krammer said.
He stressed the concern has been working in Belarus for almost two years already, making every effort to provide high-quality works meeting both the Austrian and Belarusian standards. Peter Krammer added that the concern is the largest in Europe.
In his words, the amount of orders in Belarus now reaches EUR70 million. An estimated EUR100 million is needed for the first stage of the Minsk second ring road construction.
In spite of the fact that Strabag is a construction concern it can provide assistance in the organization of the international financing of the projects.
Belarus is ready to cooperate with the Austrian concern on several projects and is especially interested in the proposals on the renewable energy, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky noted as he met with the representatives of the concern.
According to Sergei Sidorsky, the Austrian company is taking part in the construction of a domestic waste plant in Brest. He added that there are several issues concerning the project he would like to discuss.
According to Peter Krammer, the Austrian concern has a rich experience in the joint work with the Belarusian firms.
